I NEED TO PROPAGATE YUCCA ELPHANTIPES. RECENTLY I GOT A HUGE TRUNK WITH ROOTS AND I WANT TO PROPAGATE BY STEM CUTTINGS AS WELL AS ROOT CUTTINGS. PLEASE SUGGEST HOW TO GO ABOUT ON THIS . I AM FROM INDIA AND WILL BE VERY GRATEFUL FOR SHARING THE SAME
Answer: Hi Mukesh. Almost every part of Yucca elephantipes will strike from cutting. Cut them no smaller than 100mm long and take great care to plant them the right way up. The roots can be laid flat about half buried in the potting mix. Do not over-water the cuttings until new growth appears. You can do this at any time of the year. Good luck, Don.
