Answer: Hi Scott,  In my opinion there is no such thing as a non-invasive bamboo, in fact I know of several people who have been forced to remove non-invasive bamboos which have invaded their gardens. Scott, you need to talk to locals re this one. No-one will know as much about local climate & soils as a local. Look for the best local hedge and pop in & ask them what it is. This no fob-off, this is the only way to go.  Don
