Don’s Tips: The Borrowed Landscape

The Borrowed Landscape

The Borrowed Landscape

Today I’ve got a great tip for you.  When you are creating your garden, try to use the backdrop beyond your boundary.

For instance, if you have many trees or even palm trees on the far side of your fence, plant on your side of the fence to blend in so that your garden appears to go on forever.

This backdrop or view is called “The Borrowed Landscape”

Try to work in with the distant scenery.  I saw a garden in WA where the backdrop consisted of yellow capeweed and purple Patterson’s Curse: sulphur yellow and purple combined (and both weeds!).

The people created their garden to blend in with the purples and yellows and the whole effect was a living work of art.

So, look at your view and work with it.  The results may be wonderful.

Hooroo!
