Don’s Tips: Kids

Stocking creatures

Over the January period the kids are on school holidays. Their Xmas gifts are no longer taking all of their attention by January and they often get bored.

Well there are some fun games to play with plants.

1. For little kids get some nasturtium plants from the nursery or hardware store. The nano particles on the surface of the nasturtium leaves make water sit up as magical drops – like mercury beads – on the leaf surface. Don’t forget to buy the kids a little set of water utensils including a watering can. Maybe get the kids one of those boat games that have mini canals etc.

2. What about some caterpillars, snakes or monsters. Kids can make these with old stockings or very fine mesh and potting mix & various grass seeds. Or they can collect large capsules like gumnuts etc. and add eyes and mouths. You can get fake eyes etc. from most craft stores.

These are great holiday or wet-day games.
