Don’s Tips: Neutral Colours

Neutral Colours

When you are decorating your home, bright colours are often very useful.

However outdoors, more subtle earthy colours are often far better.

For painting fences, concrete pots, screens or sheds, it’s often more attractive if you choose neutral colours like earthy greys, grey-greens, soft browns or even aubergines.

The exception to this rule is that if your house is white, the pots can be white.  Pots colour-matched to the house always look good.

In general, people should not notice the strong colour of pots or fences or pathways.  Make these subtle and let the house or your garden plants steal all of the attention.

Another great tip is to paint your odds and sods of different pots all the one colour.  This will unite them, creating a much improved look.

Pots, paths and fences should be seen, but not noticed.
