Chainsaws
Chainsaws are fabulous machines for cutting up large boughs on trees. But these are dangerous machines to operate.
If you decide to get a chainsaw, insist on getting a chainsaw operator’s course. These only go for a couple of hours and they could save your limbs or your life. Most stores selling chainsaws can put you onto an operator’s course.
Get the chainsaw safety equipment too! There is the mandatory helmet with a mesh visor and earmuffs. There is also the set of chaps to protect your legs. And I always use thick leather gloves as well.
When operating a chainsaw, it really is essential to have an offsider there to help you and to get medical help if needed.
Always start the chainsaw on the ground with your foot in the foothold on the handle.
