Uromyrtus ‘Weeping Beauty’

In recent years some of the most exciting new plants to become available in Australia are the dwarf lilly pillies. A close relative of these plants is Uromyrtus ‘Weeping Beauty’ which has a spreading weeping habit.

Plant Details

Common Name: Uromyrtus ‘Weeping Beauty’

Botanical name: Uromyrtus sp. ‘Weeping Beauty’

Best Climate: Uromyrtus grows naturally at Mount Haig on the Atherton Tablelands. It will grow best in moist air on the eastern coast from Atherton and Cairns to Melbourne and on the east coast of Tasmania.

Good Points:

Has a wonderful weeping habit which spreads out across the garden
Grows well in a pot
Will grow in the shade
Grows to a height of about 2m (7′) tall

Uses:

Grows really well in a pot or any sort of a container
Weeping habit and interesting foliage plant in the garden

Likes:

Sun through to part shade
Moist air

Availability and cost

Uromyrtus sp. ‘Weeping Beauty’ may be difficult to find so try your local native specialist or ask them to order it in for you. A 15cm (6″) pot costs $9 and a 20cm (8″) pot costs $11-$16.
