Don visited Jane Garwood at her pavilion-style home in the Currumbin Valley, near Mt. Tomewin. Jane worked with architect, Jodie James, to design a house in keeping with the surrounding environment, and one that brings the natural beauty of the rainforest and garden into the living space. This was achieved with a series of eight pavilions laid out in a cross and connected by covered walkways. The buildings have thatched roofs, stone floors and limewashed walls with hot pink and orange feature walls. The house is surrounded by a tropical garden planted with bromeliads, heliconias, ginger and gardenias for flower colour and fragrance.
Vibrant colour
Jane was able to use happy, strong colours in the design because of the energy of the rainforest and the different light at 2000 feet above sea level. She settled on hot pink and orange (Indian curry) coloured paints for the feature walls. These were mixed specially for the job by Rockcote. She didn
