Is the plant in a pot or in the ground:

Answer:  Hi Vince,  Watering it once a month will do that every time. You now need to soak the whole pot in a solution of a wetting agent for 30-45 minutes to re-wet the potting mix.  It may well still die, but recovery, if it happens, will probably be slow.  Good luck,  Don.
