Sasanqua Camellias

Sasanqua Camellias

Now is the time for sasanqua camellias to flower.  Sasanquas are by far the hardiest and fastest growing of all camellias.

They make good hedging plants and are available in many flower colours: red, pink, white & multi-coloured flowers.

Some sasanquas are very pretty indeed.  Star Above Star has white and lavender-pink flowers and grows to around 2m to 2 ½ metres tall in 5 years.  This is a beautiful hedging plant.

Early Perly has formal double white flowers and also grows around 2m tall.

Sasanqua camellias will grow from full sun to part shade and can be used as specimen plants, as topiary subjects and in hedges.  Check them out at your local nursery or hardware store.

There are even two groundcover camellias:

Marge Miller which is mid pink

Or Snow which is pinkish white.

Hooroo!
