Re-potting

How often should you re-pot a plant?

Well ideally you should re-pot all plants every 2 years. The reason is that modern potting mixes are made from natural composted materials that break down and collapse over time: they sink down in the pot and can suffocate plant roots.

Premium quality mixes last significantly longer and longer still if you add 1/3rd coarse horticultural sand as well. You can expect 5 years or more of good performance from this sort of mix.

So do look at Premium Quality potting mixes with controlled release fertilisers, moisture holding crystals and better mix structure when you are re-potting plants.

Gardening can be such fun when you avoid the pitfalls.
