Crepe Myrtle

Crepe Myrtle

Have you seen the crepe myrtles this year?

These are the shrubs with stunning red, pink, white or purple flowers. You often see them along median strips or on roadside plantings.

It seems that council landscapers love these plants, but home gardeners seem to be unaware of them.

Crepe myrtles are very hardy and these newly developed varieties are vastly better than the older ones. Often they have American Indian names like Sioux, Tonto etc.

This new collection is called the Indian Summer range.

Crepe myrtles are shrubby small trees which are deciduous in winter. So they are good when you need summer shade but the warming sun in winter.

Crepe myrtles, they are really superb.

Hooroo!
