In the Garden > Others
This week, Don received some impressive entries in the ‘Mine’s Bigger Than Yours’ competition.
Michelle Madeley from Morphett Vale in SA was highly commended for her big zucchini, while Ron Wilson from Albany, WA, grew a huge pumpkin measuring 3.8m around the girth – well done Ron! Jean Matthews has had great success growing ‘unusual’ tomatoes at Coburg in Victoria, and thanks to Leigh Cooper of Niagara Park in NSW for the photo of the giant mushroom that suddenly appeared in the front yard. (Don pointed out that mushrooms are sometimes poisonous, and he suggested you only eat the ones from the shop).
Congratulations also to the Robertson Family of Armadale in WA. They recently celebrated a birthday party with a giant ‘fish’ pinata made especially for the occasion, as per Rita Hill’s instructions on Burke’s Backyard.
If you have any fruit or vegetables in the garden that are weird, misshapen or just huge, why not write in and tell us about it. Send your letter with a photo to:
