Shademaster or Soft Buffalo Grass

'Shademaster' or Soft Buffalo Grass

A lush green lawn adds beauty and value to any home. Unfortunately, a more familiar sight to most gardeners is a thin patchy lawn struggling to survive without enough water or sunlight. One of the best lawn grasses for shady areas has always been buffalo grass (Stenotaphrum secundatum). It forms a coarse, durable carpet, is reasonably drought tolerant and grows well in most frost free areas. The good news is that a new variety of buffalo grass called 'Shademaster' or Soft Buffalo has now been developed which grows even more successfully in shady spots.

Further information

'Shademaster' or Soft Buffalo is readily available. Check with your local turf supplier for details.
