Sharpening Tools
Don showed how easy it is to sharpen tools using a bench-mounted grinder.
Spade
A spade is a cutting implement, just like a knife, a pair of secateurs or a saw. Spades are much easier to use if they are kept sharp. Sharpen the bottom side only, by sliding it over the grinder until the edge is bevelled.
Screwdriver
Screwdrivers with rounded tips can be rejuvenated using a bench grinder. Don flattened then bevelled the tip of an old screwdriver, so that it had a square end, just as it did when it was new. This takes a bit of practise, but once it’s done you’ll find it is much easier to put the screwdriver into the head of a screw and either tighten or undo it.
