One of the key requirements for successful pruning is to have clean and sharp pruning tools.
An excellent implement for sharpening tools is the Swiss Istor. These are available from Bunnings stores in the tools section.
To prevent transfer of disease from plant to plant secateurs and other pruning tools can be dipped into water which has had a small amount of Dettol added to it. Bleach would do similar job but the bleach could corrode the tools so it’s best to stick with Dettol.
After you have finished with them, clean the razors with a bit of steel wool or scotch brite and spray with WD 40 to keep them in good condition.
