Use second hand commercial felt, hessian, carpet underlay as a deterrent to weeds in your garden beds. absorbs water keeps soil from drying out and stops weeds from coming up. cover with pine bark or pebbles for the nice fashionable look. cost is $7.70 per carpet broadloom meter or about $1.95 per square meter. I have sold it to community gardens in the past and use it in my garden as well.
