Gnome Garden
Mary Simmons collects ornaments of all kinds and displays them in her garden. In the front yard there is a group of gnomes beside the letterbox, and Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs take pride of place under an archway. These pieces have to be cemented into place otherwise they “walk”. In the back garden there are sections dedicated to farmyard animals, frogs, birds, and even more gnomes. Mary’s husband Keith has drawn a boundary line over which the collection must not cross, so that he can park the caravan!

Bride and Groom Collection
Inside the house is a bride and groom collection made up of hundreds of couples. When Mary was thirteen she was given a bride and groom salt and pepper set. She loved the gift, and had high hopes that the boy who presented it would marry her. Later Keith came along and swept her off her feet, but she kept the bride and groom set and added to it over the years. Mary’s sister pays her a special visit every now and then to help with the daunting task of keeping the collection clean.
Jade Hurley
Mary collects rock’n’roll memorabilia and has been a Jade Hurley fan for over 20 years. She has signed copies of all Jade’s recordings, and goes to all his concerts dressed in glittery jackets specially made for the occasion. Mary was surprised and thrilled when we caught up with Jade. He sent her a cheerio call and thanked her for being such a loyal fan.
