The front entrance of a home needs to be attractive, welcoming and create the right spirit for anyone who visits your home. An attractive path is one aspect of the entrance to a home that will help create a warm welcome.
 Granite paving

Granite is a long lasting and hard wearing stone which makes it ideal as an outdoor material. The colours and finishes available make it an attractive and very variable material to enjoy. It is functional, as well as decorative, and can be used in place of sandstone or high quality paving materials. Brick is one option for paving but a new granite product, which is at the luxury end of paving, lends a new style to paved surfaces. Hand finished in a variety of shapes; square or rectangular, small or large, these pavers are cut to Sydney landscaper Horst Ruettinger’s own design, and come in bush hammered or rumbled finishes. Different sizes, colours and cutting methods give you the choice for a unique result. The pavers range in price from $72-$130 per square metre, depending on the look, colour and finish you want to achieve. Granite paving will be more expensive than the alternatives but will last for centuries.

Granite garden art

In addition to granite paving add something strong and bold; a heavy granite ball rolling on water. These granite pieces imported by Horst Ruettinger bring a new look to garden art. The way that the stone is cut and finished determines the final colour, and there are many colours of granite to be found. Pink, grey, black and the salt and pepper look of white granite with black flecks are just some of the more popular granite choices. Horst Ruettinger imports granite pieces into Sydney from China. These are cut and finished to his own specifications, and adding one of his fountains or series of pavers will make a bold statement in your garden landscape.

Black granite is the most expensive granite. In fact, a black granite ball is 27% heavier than other coloured granite balls of the same diameter because of the density of this natural material. The ball fountains would make a stunning centrepiece for a garden or courtyard. The balls are available in black, white, red or green granite. You can also have the base and ball as a piece of garden art without the fountain attachments.

The granite balls and fountains are available from Horst Ruettinger and retail from around $780 to $1730 for a granite ball and from around $3200 to $4500 for a granite ball fountain which includes installation of a pump for the fountain.
