Burke’s Backyard resident scientist, Graeme Quirk, considered the environmental benefits of going to the pub. Graeme said that drinking tap beer means that no cans or bottles have to be collected and recycled. In winter there are added benefits, because if a group of environmentalists goes to the pub and shares the warmth of one fire, energy is not wasted heating lots of separate houses. If you consume enough beer so that it’s no longer safe or legal to drive your car and you have to walk home, you reduce your contributions to smog and greenhouse gases!
