Don’s Tips: Gardena Hose

Have you ever drunk water out of a garden hose and wondered about the plastic taste?  Garden hose water really tastes as if it were toxic.

Well it turns out that this is true.  The plastic taste is caused by chemicals called phthalates.  This weird word is spelt PHTHALATES.

Phthalates are chemicals used to increase the flexibility in hoses and other plastic products.  They are used in many different products and have been associated with asthma & allergies, breast cancer, birth defects and other health problems.

So it’s good news that Gardena have brought out new phthalate-free hoses.  These are Gardena’s Premium Superflex Classic Hose range.  These are very long-lasting top quality hoses that are much safer for children and pregnant women in particular.

For more about these phalate-free hoses go to the Burke’s Backyard website youtube channel

Always look for phthalate-free labeling on garden hoses.
