bare roots

Bare rooted plants: the bare roots of a crab apple tree.

One of the great miracles happens at this time of the year. Nursery people dig up plants, shake ALL of the soil off them and send them all over Australia.

Isn’t it amazing that plants can tolerate this much abuse!

Fruiting plants such as apples, peaches, nectarines, apricots, figs, pears, plums, cherries etc. are all available now.

As are spring blossom trees such as flowering cherries, peaches, plums, crab-apples etc.

These plants have been grafted onto other plants to achieve a hardier root system, dug up, shipped and re-potted for your convenience. This is modern horticulture at its very best.

…and I still haven’t mentioned deciduous foliage trees like golden and claret ashes, maples, ornamental pears, and so on.

Go to your local plant shop this weekend for bargains.
