Don’s Tips – Ageing Rocks

Ageing Rocks

Last time we looked at using rocks in the gardens and noted that bush rock is best left in the bush.

But how do you “age” freshly broken up or dug up rock?

Well, it’s really easy. Mix some chook poo, dirt and old yoghurt into a slurry like unbeaten cream and paint it onto the moistened rock or rocks.

Let it dry for a day or two. Then, over a period of some weeks, gently mist-spray the rock with water every day or so.

Any areas of concrete can, after a month or two, be carpeted in moss that you lift with a paint scraper from footpaths & gutters.

Within a few months, your new rock will look centuries old.

How good is that!

Hooroo! Don.
