Queensland couple Roz and Bernie have proved that you can create your dream with enough hard work, time and a bit of luck.

Around 10 years ago this couple decided to build a 20m (70′) long steel hulled ship in their back yard in Redland Bay, Queensland. After 10 years of hard work, learning new skills (Roz did all the welding) and legal battles the boat has finally been launched and is moored at a marina.

Moving the ship was a major task. Two prime movers were called in to transport the ship to the marina. To avoid traffic the move took place at three o’clock in the morning. A police escort ensured that the roads were kept safe and the boat reached its destination.

It has been named ‘To the Limit’, which Roz and Bernie feel sums up the way they have been stretched by their dream.

Although the boat still requires fitting out it is afloat. Roz, who has kept a diary of the entire ordeal, hopes one day to publish an account of their experiences.
