Grevillea ‘Billy Bonkers’

‘Billy Bonkers’ is one of a spectacular range of new hybrid grevilleas produced by Richard Tomkin at Changers Green Nursery in Queensland. It is a cross between the dwarf, spreading Grevillea nana subsp. abbreviata and Grevillea ‘Sid Cadwell’. Richard named this grevillea after his pet dog.

Botanic name: Grevillea ‘Billy Bonkers’

Description: Low growing grevillea to about 1m (3′) tall, and 2-3m (6-10′) wide. It has bright green foliage and metallic pink flowers for most of the year.

Best climate: ‘Billy Bonkers’ will grow anywhere in Australia, but may need protection (especially when young) from frosts in areas that experience regular frosts or very cold conditions. Plants are frost tolerant to -3°C and will withstand summer temperatures to around 40°C, making them suitable for inland areas. They are grafted on to Grevillea robusta understock.
