Mexican Artefacts
One of the best things about designing a house or garden is the excitement and the satisfaction of creating a look that’s new and different. Tuscan, Santa Fe and Mexican styles are all wonderfully fresh and vibrant, but there is a problem. The right plants and paint colours are readily available, but it’s not so easy to find all the furnishings and bric-a-brac. Except that is, if you live near Eagle Farm in Brisbane. The Burke’s Backyard team was there recently, and paid a visit to Limon Furnishings and Homewares. They stock the largest range of Mexican furniture, pottery, glassware and decorator items in Australia. They sell over 30 different styles of pots, as well as unusual pieces such as fountains, water storing bottles and tibors (urns). These pieces can look wonderful as long as they are used in the right setting, and fit in with the basic design and layout of the garden or house.
Cost and availability
Ceramic hand-painted urns are priced from $125 to $699, seahorse pots are from $20 to $149, and open-mouthed fish pots are from $45 to $110. The large steel urn featured in our segment costs $986. The price of the glazed three-tiered bird bath is $798.
There is no catalogue available, but Limon Furnishings and Homewares will freight interstate.
