Nature of problem:
i would like to plant something like bamboo ( non invasive ) in a planter box at my home in the riverland of south australia , we have temperatures from minus 4 to + 45 deg c . Will bamboo be ok in this situation , or could you suggest something that will form a screen type cover . the planter box is approx 4m long x 300mm wide

Answer: Hi Scott, In my opinion there is no such thing as a non-invasive bamboo, in fact I know of several people who have been forced to remove non-invasive bamboos which have invaded their gardens. Scott, you need to talk to locals re this one. No-one will know as much about local climate & soils as a local. Look for the best local hedge and pop in & ask them what it is. This no fob-off, this is the only way to go. Don
