Each year thousands of visitors flock to the Tesselaar Tulip Festival at Silvan in Victoria. As well as being able to see fields of colourful tulips, they come to enjoy horse and carriage rides, food, wine and live music. Summer flowering bulbs and perennial plants are on sale, as well as Dutch souvenirs. Members of the Tesselaar family and friends love to get into the spirit of the occasion, dressing up in traditional Dutch costumes and posing for photographs.
The Tesselaar 2004 50th Anniversary Tulip Festival is on until October 13, from 10am to 5pm daily. Entry is free for children under 16, $14 for adults and $12 concession.
