Plants Packaged for Kids

Applewood Seed and Garden Group has produced a new range of beautifully packaged seed products, which would make excellent gifts for children. There’s a kit to suit every child’s taste, they’re great fun, and they teach kids about plants and the environment as well.

Kit details:

Garden Gigglys – features flower fairies. Each kit contains a plastic growing liner, seeds, potting mix, instructions and a winged character, for example Dotty (polka dot plant), Goldie (french marigold), Kenny (coleus), Sammy (sensitive plant) and Susie (black-eyed susan). RRP $7.95.

Window Sillys – features comic characters, for example freckle faced frog (polka dot plant), clown (french marigold), lion (french marigold) and bird (coleus). Each kit has a "sof pot" with feet, seeds, potting mix and instructions. RRP $7.95.

Window Wigglys – features creatures that wiggle, creep and squirm. RRP $7.95.

Flower Seed Crayon – each crayon is a seed can with a terracotta pot shaker top. Flower colours match the can, for example the yellow can contains rudbeckias, which have a yellowish flower with a yellow centre, the blue can contains cornflowers, and the pink can contains cosmos. RRP $12.95.

Seeds of Joy – inspirational sentiments with vinca, impatiens and johnny jump-ups. RRP $8.95.

Catnip for Cats – this is a great favourite of cats, mint scented. RRP $13.95.

Garbage Garden – activity kit teaches kids (5yrs+) how to turn kitchen scraps into an indoor garden – they can grow a carrot top jungle, a potato bush or a popcorn forest. RRP $13.95.
