An odd question I know, but would you know why snails only seem to travel in the one general direction, at least in my backyard here on the Gold Coast, Queensland? If I put a small coloured marker on their shells and throw them (under cover of darkness) over the fence into my neighbour’s garden (I know, very naughty) they make their way back again the next day. If I send them to the opposite neighbour, the same phenomena does not seem to apply. Thank you

Answer: Fascinating stuff Michaele,  I know that snails do go back home, but I was unaware that they migrate in one direction. It could be that there is little to eat on the first side and heaps to eat on the other side. Equally, there may be a bluetongue lizard eating them on the other side or they might have snail bait out. Keep up the experiments.  Don
