Nature of problem:
not thriving after 2 and half years in garden
Type of Plant (if known):
Callistemon Dawson River weeper x 3
Symptoms of Plant Illness (please try NOT to diagnose your problems yourself):
look dry and no new growth apparent
Soil Type (e.g. sandy, clay or loam) OR Potting Mix Type:
clay, well watered but very wet through our last winter. Frost has burnt the leaves last year and this year.
How often do you water the plant:
regularly through Summer, very little during Winter – we have had plenty of rain.
How many hours of sunlight does the plant get each day:
all located in full sunny position
What type of plant is it:
Callistemon Dawson River Weeper
How long since you planted it:
Approx March 2013
Have you fertilised? If so, with what and when:
Well mulched with dry cow manure pre-winter
Is the plant indoors or outdoors:
outdoors
Is the plant in a pot or in the ground:
in the ground
What other treatments have you given the plant:
not sure what to do

Other Comments:
I would appreciate if you could advise what we could do to revive these plants please? People have suggested we “toss them out” but it is a big expense to purchase another three to try again.

Answer: It does look like cold damage to me Helen. I suggest that you ask local nurseries and hardware stores OR the local garden club which bottlebrushes suit your area. Regards, Don (local knowledge is ALWAYS best).
