Wet Day Jobs – staining wooden handles with linseed oil

Some gardeners HATE wet, cold & miserable days – NOT ME THOUGH.

I love these days because I go out to my garage to do all of those niggly little jobs that never get done.

  1. Tidy your workbench.
  1. Get some clear plastic partitioned containers from Bunnings and sort out all of your screws, bolts, nails etc.
  1. Replace old broken fittings on hoses
  1. Sharpen all cutting tools such as hedge trimmers, secateurs, chisels, snips and wire cutters, axes, spades, tomahawks etc.  Why not get a bench grinder to sharpen your larger tools.  They only cost $90 or so and they sharpen tools in a minute or two.
  1. Mix up 50/50 linseed oil and turps to create the perfect wood preserver for handles on shovels, spades, chisels, hammers, mattocks etc.  Just paint it on with a 2-3cm wide paintbrush.

–   Play your favourite music as you do it too!

Hooroo! Don
