Pruning grevilleas

Most Australian native plants look better, live longer and flower much better if pruned each year… but when and how do you prune them?

All natives, like grevilleas and bottlebrushes are best pruned immediately after the major spring flowering flush – i.e. in October/November.

Prune back by one third all over.  This encourages dense growth and lots of flowers.

If a grevillea or bottlebrush is sparse, rank and ugly, prune it savagely to a height of about 1 metre from the ground.  Usually the plants will regrow to look wonderful.

Prune natives soon!
