Roses
Don looked at a fantastic display of Iceberg and Flower Carpet roses outside the Donvale Rehabilitation Hospital in Melbourne. This year roses are looking particularly good, especially in the areas of Australia with a Mediterranean climate, that is around Perth, Adelaide and Melbourne.
However, as you go along the east coast and move progressively north, humidity increases and roses become more susceptible to fungus diseases. In humid zones rose diseases such as black spot need to be controlled with regular applications of products containing the active ingredient triforine. Monsoonally affected areas (particularly Sydney, Brisbane and north) have also been under the influence of La Niña this year, and that means fungal problems on all plants are more likely to occur.
