Japanese Pet Shop

Share

Don visited a pet shop in Tokyo and found that it was very different from Australian pet shops. It was full of snakes, every sort of lizard, huge tortoises, turtles, chameleons and colourful horned toads. There were enormous tarantulas, coloured mice, toucans and just about every other weird animal you can think of!

As well as paying large amounts of money to purchase their pets, the Japanese also spend a fortune on cages, heaters, air-conditioners and everything else needed to make sure the animals live relatively good lives.

(Note: In Australia, it is illegal to keep many of the animals shown without a licence.)
