Nature of problem:
Tree is bended for a long time, the roots are visible and after Irma hurricane lost a lot of branches

Jacaranda Tree

The roots started a year ago to be visible and the trunk started to lose the first layer showing the internal layer

mix with sandy and loam

I live in Florida, US so it gets water at least 2 times per week
How many hours of sunlight does the plant get each day:
between 10 – 12
How long since you planted it:
I moved in 2005 and the tree was already in front of the house. By then, the height was one floor
Have you fertilised? If so, with what and when:
I used the products for the grass since the tree was with grass around it
Is the plant indoors or outdoors:

What other treatments have you given the plant:
trim the branches on top of the house and the ones falling

I loved my tree but I am concern it may fall in the street or the house. It has survived 5 hurricanes but with this one it doesn’t look good and the last spring didn’t have too many flowers.

Hi Betty, Our hearts go out to all those affected by Irma. As a qualified Arborist, I strongly advise that you get your jacaranda inspected by a qualified arborist when things are back to normal. For the moment it seems superficially OK, and from the photo it seems to be leaning away from your home, which is good. You need to look into why it is leaning – maybe your soils are shallow or just sandy. Normal soils would hold it up better. DO NOT let anyone prune it back much at all since this will cause very ugly new growth. Treat the tree with a liquid seaweed product and a soil wetting agent to start new root growth.
