Answer:
Hi Betty, Our hearts go out to all those affected by Irma. As a qualified Arborist, I strongly advise that you get your jacaranda inspected by a qualified arborist when things are back to normal. For the moment it seems superficially OK, and from the photo it seems to be leaning away from your home, which is good. You need to look into why it is leaning – maybe your soils are shallow or just sandy. Normal soils would hold it up better. DO NOT let anyone prune it back much at all since this will cause very ugly new growth. Treat the tree with a liquid seaweed product and a soil wetting agent to start new root growth. Good luck and I hope that civilisation returns soon. Don
