A common problem with Australian garden is finding plants that will grow under gum trees.  She oaks are also particularly difficult since they have horrible massive roots under them.

Don showed a range of plants that will cope with these conditions.

  • Crowea saligna – pink wax flower (Aust. Native Birth Flower for May)
  • Flannel Flowers (Actinotus helianthi)
  • Clivias – clivias come from South Africa not Australia.  They will cope well with conditions under gum trees.  Clivias are particularly useful and intesting plants. For more information about them go to: www.burwoodclivianursery.com.au
