Microcarpa Var. Hilli Flash As A Hedge

Nature of problem: 
I’d like to plant Microcarpa Var. Hilli Flash, on a boundary wall As a pleached hedge to be kept clipped To 2.5 Meters – 10 long. It will go on the Northern boundry which is a brick wall of our neighbours garage and concrete slab. I’m concerned the roots may become invasive, but if I keep it clipped to the dimensions said do you think the roots won’t become too aggressive. If not is there a good alternative, without berries?

No sun in this area in winter, blocked by norther wall. Only sun when plant reaches 2.1 Meters. Tree will get half a day of sun in summer only once the tree reaches 1.5 meters high. ground in this area gets no direct sun

 

What type of plant is it:
Ficus

 

How long since you planted it:
advice as to whether to plant or not

 

Have you fertilised? If so, with what and when:
It will have big helping of blood and bone. prior to plant.

 

Is the plant indoors or outdoors: 
outdoors

 

Is the plant in a pot or in the ground:

Answer: Hi Rachel,  Nothing could make me plant a Hill’s weeping fig, Ficus microcarpa var Hillii. It is a nasty tree with terribly invasive roots that can cause enormous damage as much as 30-50 metres away. Select a lilly pilly instead. The berries should not prove a problem.  Don
