Privacy Policy

Your privacy is important to us.

The National Privacy Act of 1988 established clear guidelines for protecting the private personal details of all Australians, and Burke’s Backyard is bound by them. This Privacy Policy covers Burke’s Backyard's treatment of your personal information that we collect for the purposes of becoming a Burke’s Backyard website member and in order to provide you with Burke’s Backyard's services.

Your personal details

Burke’s Backyard collects information which identifies you when you register to become a Burke’s Backyard website member, and when you enter promotions and competitions. When you sign up as a Burke’s Backyard website member, you provide details of your name, email address, birth date, gender and postcode. Once you register with Burke’s Backyard, you are not anonymous to us. The Burke’s Backyard website server will also record information from your computer’s web browser that provides your IP address, Burke’s Backyard cookie information, and the page you requested.

Guarding your privacy

Burke’s Backyard will not sell your personal information to anyone. Please be advised that we may be required to pass your personal details onto another company in order to provide you with the goods or services you have requested. By providing your personal details you acknowledge that you are aware of this and consent to the information being disclosed. We might also be legally obliged to provide personal details by a legal process or to prevent or lessen a threat to the life or health of the individual concerned or of another person.

All about cookies

As standard website management practice, Burke's Backyard will use the technology called a ‘cookie’. This cookie is a small text file written to your computer's hard drive that identifies your browser software to our website. Cookies are required in order to use our dynamic website features, including voting and forum posts. Burke’s Backyard will also allow advertisers on our website to set cookies on your computer. However, be assured that these advertisers cannot access Burke’s Backyard’s own cookies set on your computer. Your web browser gives you the option to edit, block and delete cookies, however you may find navigating our website and accessing all its features will be less efficient if you delete or block our cookies.

Your privacy rights

All members of the Burke’s Backyard website, unless prohibited by law, have the right to access, edit or delete your own personal details at any time, which is encouraged so to ensure that your information is kept accurate, relevant and up to date. You will also be able to tell us whether you do or don’t want us to contact you with offers, special deals and news releases about products, promotions and competitions.

Security measures to protect you

When you sign up to the Burke’s Backyard website we will ask you to create a password to protect the security of your personal details. Your privacy is important to us. Be assured that all information transmitted to us is protected by 128-bit encryption. Additionally passwords are stored using one-way encryption and remain secret. Updates to our Privacy Policy Burke’s Backyard may edit its privacy policy from time to time, and we will clearly indicate on this Privacy Policy page the nature of these changes, and the reasons for them.
