Mossie coil holder

Posted 1095 days ago

Do you know how hard it is to get an inexpensive mossie coil holder?? Also getting one to last longer than 5 coils is nothing short of a miracle. The hole in the coil is that bloody small, there is hardly anything that will fit it without breaking it. The pottery(rare as hens teeth up this way!)ones and the metal ones in Woolies (UGLY!! and they rust!) are awful and expensive. Any ideas for home made ones that look ok and arent too expensive to make?? Also god forbid if you have kids, that knock it over and break the tiny weak "metal" one in the packet! With the dengue outbreaks up here, we need something!! HELP!!

We make them from fencing wire and a pair of pliers! OK, they are not art deco but if you have strong fingers and wrists and not too thick wire, you could probably bend the wire into some neat patterns. We generally just make a coil of wire (similar to the actual mozzie coil)and just bend the middle bit up to poke through the mozzie coil hole. May not be cute but could keep you out of trouble till you can find the pretty ones. I know, the ones they come with in the packs are hopeless!! (Put the whole thing on an old saucer to catch the ash.)

Ingenious Inventor Dennis V Pryor has invented the Crochead coil holder. It securely holds broken pieces of coil in the same way a whole coil is held. During burning of mosquito coils it can be laid down flat, stand upright or be hung up off the ground without difficulty. Each Crochead coil holder is handmade from high grade stainless steel in Cairns, QLD.

At Crochead Pty Ltd we believe burning coils is still the cheapest cost effective way of beating the mosquitoes.
We offer a lifetime guarantee on this ingenious product when purchased from our website - crochead.com

They do make ideal gifts, so don’t just stop at one or two.

This is a back yard must, ideal around the BBQ or at camp or on the patio enjoying the Australian way.

Re mossie coil
A cheap and inexspensive coil holder is useing an old fork. Bend one of the middle prongs up a little to create a spike and the others bend down to form legs. Also you can hammer flat the tip of the upward prong so the coil will fit. Place fork on anything non flammable to catch the ash. Very easy to do and doesn't cost anything. Hope it works for you.
