Driveway edging . . . ADVICE NEEDED! Posted 1158 days ago Hey all,
We have recently built a new home and are now working hard trying to construct some type of a driveway. We have decided on a crushed rock driveway for the moment.
My query is this:
We'd like to put some kind of a solid edging (concrete, stone etc) around the edged to keep the gravel/crushed rock in place and to keep the edge tidy. Is this easy to do ourselves or would we be better to save for a bit longer and hire someone to do . . .
Can anyone give advice on how to do it, where to start, whats involved etc?
As you can probably tell, we're very new to DIY but we are both keen to learn and we're not shy to roll up our sleeves and get stuck in . . .
All advice appreciated greatly!
Cheers,
Louise : ) _________ So much done, but lots more to do!!! |

RE: Driveway edging . . . ADVICE NEEDED! Posted 1156 days ago Is your d/way long?
if it is it might be better leaving it to professionals, as they always do a better job. and you have the choice of colors and patterns.
But if you want to do it yourself, try making a mold for concrete 'logs' by using some big PVC pipe. This gives an even result that is easyer to remove if you change your mind later you can just dig them back up. No need for breaking up concrete. You can also add dye to the concrete if you don't want the standard grey. (just make sure you get all airbubbles out.)
Another option is to buy sections of concrete edging and lay them yourself. This used to be readily available from 'pot shops'.
