powder coated fencing

Posted 893 days ago

We have a black, powder coated gate and baulestrade. There are a few spots where the coating has lifted. Any of you good people got suggestions how we can "touch up" this rather than pulling all apart to take to be re-coated please? We actually want to extend the fencing on the canal balestraude but have been quoted ridiculous $'s. The balestraude is powder coated uprights with marine wire levels (mmmm not tech speak). Many thanks, in advance, for any advice. (I live on the Gold Coast - in case you are near.)

If gate is steel, I would suggest rust converter. One I got years ago at Franklins turned rust into black enamel looking surface. Don't remember if I had to paint it, but because like you I wanted it black, so I left it.
Rust didn't come back, so was OK.

Not sure if all rust converters turn rust to black coat, but it can be painted and you can try to buy them at Auto Shops or Bunnings or any Hardware Store.

If it is another metal, not sure, but probably some: primer, then undercoat, then surface coat.
