Veggie patch and Garden Posted 1425 days ago I got a piece of tiny garden space outside my room window. I want a veggie patch and a small garden from seed but my Mum won't allow me to do it staight into the soil. She wants it in a pot! I don't like pots 'cause I think there kinda ugly(sorry to people who like them). How can I make her allow me to do it(facts will be perfect)? |

RE: Veggie patch and Garden Posted 1425 days ago No one can make your Mum allow you to have a garden in the soil but you could certainly have a great garden in pots. Lots of people have to garden in pots because they live in units and only have a balcony to grow their plants. |

RE: Veggie patch and Garden Posted 1309 days ago growing your vegies in a pot has got to be better than not growing anything at all, right? |

RE: Veggie patch and Garden Posted 1223 days ago you could even go to the local green grocers and ask them if they have any spare polystereneboxes, these are great to grow vegetables as you can also decorate them the way you want! |

RE: Veggie patch and Garden Posted 1056 days ago I use anything instead of pots , I grow lettuce in old shoes, I grow a tomato plant in an old hessian sack. Think outside the box. |

RE: Veggie patch and Garden Posted 863 days ago Pots could let you show your individuality....you can give an ordinary plastic garden pot a light sand and paint it in any colour or design you like. You can do the same with teracotta or concrete pots too or you could use liqid nails, broken plates or mirror piesces, some grout and mosaic the pots to your own special design. Painted rocks and stones could be added to the garden bed to add affect....you are only limited by your imagination. Show your mum you mean business and are prepared to put in the hard work and she will eventually give you some room to move. All us mums are softee's at heart when it comes to our children. |

RE: Veggie patch and Garden Posted 851 days ago Makes me sad to think your Mum is limiting your gardening experience. My brother, sister and I grew up with being given a long garden bed each. Sometimes we didn't grow much, but we got the idea and we have great gardens now. Our parents encouraged us to grow fun vegies which didn't have too much trouble with bugs etc - like corn. So we became addicted. |
