Veggie patch and Garden

Posted 299 days ago

I got a piece of tiny garden space outside my room window. I want a veggie patch and a small garden from seed but my Mum won't allow me to do it staight into the soil. She wants it in a pot! I don't like pots 'cause I think there kinda ugly(sorry to people who like them). How can I make her allow me to do it(facts will be perfect)?

No one can make your Mum allow you to have a garden in the soil but you could certainly have a great garden in pots. Lots of people have to garden in pots because they live in units and only have a balcony to grow their plants.

Pots work well for vegies and flowers etc. I have many acres I can garden in but I still have lots of things in pots as well. You can use them for effect and they are easy to care for.

Sure you can. Only limited by your imagination.

Good luck.

growing your vegies in a pot has got to be better than not growing anything at all, right?
Give it a go using pots and then if things don't go well then at least you gave it a shot or if your mum realises how much you enjoy tending to your potted garden she may actually let you establish your own little vegie plot in the ground.

Good luck with it.

Maybe Mum will let you bury the pot too?
Vegies cant excape and you don't have to see the pot.

Hi There,

This is my first time at writing anything in this forum.

[UNDERLINE]I use to hate pots too[/UNDERLINE]- but if you look in all the gardening magazines, you will find there are many ways you can make your pots look really attractive and effective. I have all my herbs in pots and it works so well, I also have done a cool display with them by puting them on old wood stumps, at different hights (tallest at the back, shortest at the front) and Ive put a few tealight lanterns arownd them- so at nihgt when I entain- the sight is spectacular.

You can pick up the nicest pots- they dont have to be the old usual plastic black ones. All this can make the greatest effect and if a paticular plant dosnt like the position its in you can always move it around- so you never get bored- which of course you couldnt do if it was in the grownd!

Besides if your starting with seeds its usually best to start the little seeds life off in a little pot using seed raising mix.

Im sure you will create something amazing that you will be able to enjoy- eating and looking at! Make your mum proud Darlin.

you could even go to the local green grocers and ask them if they have any spare polystereneboxes, these are great to grow vegetables as you can also decorate them the way you want!

also,
if you show your mum that you can grow succesful vegies and they taste nice, she might be pursuaded. for you to have a bigger garden!

when i started my vege garden, i told my parents every thing that i knew about gardens by asking the local plant shop, internet an family members and told them everything!!!

well, my parents didnt mind in the first place but, i just wanted to convince them a little bit more, they love they feeling to know that they are going to have fresh vegies, that it will not cost to much on the water bill (i have a water wise garden) and that it will save them money!!!!!!!
