Hi Ray,

I have just had two tiles come loose on a step at the front door, when I removed the tiles I found that the step had been painted (around 12 years ago) and it was the paint that had let go. I have removed all of the remaining paint (which wasn't much) and will be retiling again shortly. So if you intend to tile over paint make sure it is sound.

I would agree that most of the paint needs to be removed, since it will likely loosen under the tile and cause problems later. May be furring strips fastened with tap con screws then nail or screw backer to furring strips, or maybe it can be directly attached to the walls.

i have recently painted a path way,and it is not giving me the look i want so i wil tile as well,what non toxic safe product or way would i use,or do, as i have palms plants and green tree frogs,lizards around the area
