REMOVING VERANDAH PAINT

Posted 920 days ago

The previous owner, of my home has painted the verandah timber floor a Pale Yellow. Now it looks shabby and ugly with worn patches.
Can anyone suggest how I can remove this large area of Paint. I would prefer just to Oil it.
Thank you from Granny Lady :)

can only suggest you sand it all back and then oil it.

Ive just finished painting the entire outside of my house, and on advice from my father in law, who is a house painter, we burnt the old paint off.

We used a hand held burner hooked up to a small gas bottle, held the flame about 15-20cm away from the paint so that it started to blister, then just pushed it off with a painters knife/scraper.... it comes off quite easily. Then we just gave it a sand and applied the new paint, or decking oil in your case.
If you give this a go, make sure you have the hose on stand by, just in case!

Using this technique to remove paint can this be used on other surfaces like brick and rendered surfaces or just timber surfaces?
