Ugly brown aluminium windows

Posted 668 days ago

I was wondering if you could help with some renovation tips. I am looking at renovating ‘Fix and Flip’ a property in Adelaide and often properties I look at built in the 70’s and 80’s have these ugly brown aluminium windows. Have you any suggestions on how to improve this look and if it is worth spending the money. A large majority of these houses are also red brick and wondering if it is worth the money to render these or just to paint the bricks. Any ideas would be welcomed.

Did you watch TV Friday night? A certain TV show on channel 7 showed how to change window frames.
Render always looks nicer.

I have the same window frames and I was told to buy some car cut and polish paste. I must admit I havent done so but the advise seems realistic and cheap and a little bit of elbow grease never hurt any one. Having said that I am gonna give it a go when Im on holidays next week.....

Painting aluminium is no different to most other materials, Make sure it's clean give a light sand and paint. As for render there is another alternative it's called bagging. It is a mixture of paint and course sand applied with a Large brush then rubbed with foam (or a bag) to give a pattern. Personally i quite like it. Many people paint the top 1/2 or bottom 1/2 of their home with this method. It's cheaper than render.
