Cat Mouser

Posted 276 days ago

Please help!! I am 11 weeks pregnant and look after children at my home. My cat brings home mice everyday or second day leaving them dead or alive at the door or in the house sometimes to be found days later full of maggots. Apart from making nausous, hating the 3 hour torture of the poor mouse - I am concerned about the risk of germs and disease.
I realize cats are hunters and she feels she is doing a good thing BUT I can't stand it any longer . . .
Any tips to stop this apart from locking her up????
Thank you

Locking her up would be your only option. A good cat run would allow her the thrill of the outdoors but keep wildlife safe as well.

It is a good thing she is getting rid of the mice for you, which do carry disease. Can you stop her from coming inside with them? Make her stay out if she has a mouse in her mouth. Then she will kill it out in the yard. At least then you won't have unseen bodies in the house. I would also be checking out where she is finding them all. Obviously there is a nest somewhere which needs destroying.
