Killer chickens, Some times little doves get into my Chicken pen, but the other morning when i went out there, they had killed one and were eating it, is that normal? they always have fresh food and water

Chooks are sometimes known to eat meat.

Chooks will down mice and rats that get into their pen. I understand that chooks were meat eaters before they became domestic birds.

Chooks do eat meat (worms are meaty) and are quite savage to small creatures such as frogs and lizards too. They seem to give anything a go, despite having chook food around.

Try giving them some raw mince meat,they need protein and there is usually a shortage of worms,lizards ect in winter.
