Mice in my backyard

Posted 267 days ago

Firstly, please bear with me..I was born and raised in the city, lived in apartments all my life. Recently, my husband and I bought a 2-storey unit in Glenroy. It has a small backyard...well, to someone like me, it is "big". I don't like gardens because gardens have insects and creatures that come into the house. Again, I know I sound silly but it isn't silly to me. Anyways, as I am typing this message, I'm also keeping an eye on this little mice-looking thing. It is brown, with long tail, and it is tiny..like a baby field mouse or perhaps, it is a baby rat. It seem,s to really like one of my potted cactus plants and chilli plant. Anyways, can someone please advise (QUICKLY) how do I 'shoooo' it away and PREVENT it from coming back!!! I don't want to trap it because then I would have go near it and kill it...no killing...just 'shoo-shoo' away and don't come back.
BIGGGG thanks in advance.
